Concrete Kandy, New Paintings by Jack Pierce

Huntington, NY (ContentDesk) April 23, 2006 -- New York artist Jack Pierce debuts his new urban themed paintings to a world wide audience via the web Tuesday, April 25th.
The uniquely titled website jackorilla.com plays host to Concrete Kandy, a solo exhibition based on work the artist composed in Soho, London. One evening in the spring of 2005 while traveling abroad on business, the artist found himself shuffling through the old world streets of London, where twenty-first century globalization has added a new digital layer of complexity to the culturally and architecturally rich city.
The contrast of antique and modern can be found in the shows shimmering canvases. These paintings are a result of that evening.More than anywhere else Id ever been the old school versus new school in London really creates a new kind of aura in light and atmosphere. There were eight hundred year old structures that are now covered in plasma screens.

The light was incredible, I knew there would be great paintings to come out of this, says Pierce. As for the paintings themselves, the night comes to life as Venus sparkles like a jewel in the evening sky in the piece Bringer of Love. The abundant possibilities of the coming night shine as brilliantly as the city lights in Get Found and The Yellow Raincoat.
Mystery and history peer back from a pair of watching eyes in The Saint.
The gorgeous architecture itself, illuminated in the twilight becomes the subject of Soho Pub.
As Be the Night embodies the ethereal qualities of the city itself in the persona of a timeless beauty.

What?s the Difference Between Plasma TVs and LCD TVs?

Plasma and LCD TVs are the latest trend in home entertainment. Both offer unrivalled picture quality and resolution, while doing away with the bulkiness of the older rear-projection technologies. But with all of the hype surrounding these two types of televisions, what is the difference between them? Although they look- and are virtually priced- the same, they are not. There differences are found in the way in which they display their pictures. Plasma TV technology is made up of hundreds of thousands of little pixels, each capable of displaying red, green, and blue colors. A plasma monitor often consists of two panels, which are filled with an inert gas, such as xenon or neon.

When the pixels are excited by pulses of electricity, the gas becomes liquid, thus generating light. And if it is not possible on that level, drop down a level until it is possible to furnish your home on that specific level.Take for example, a television.-------------------Level 1: Floor------------------- You know your home can easily be furnished with a television using Level 1.

And your most space conservative item to mount a television on is a pedestal tv stand, or a tv pole that extends from the floor to the...
